Authors Talk at the Canton Branch

What’s better than reading great books? Meeting the authors who wrote them!

Canton Public Library will host an Authors Talk program with local authors, Jim Ritchie and Martin Hegwood. Please join us as Jim and Martin tell us about the creative process of their works.

Jim Ritchie

Biography of Jim Ritchie:

Jim Ritchie was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and raised in Natchez. He lives in Canton, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1960 with a bachelor’s in business administration. He then went to Louisiana Tech University for a year in 1958 to study petroleum engineering.

Biography of Martin Hegwood

Martin Hegwood was raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with his parents, who were in the shrimping business. He lived next to his grandparents, who were farmers. He spent many years when he was young getting boats out of the water and repairing them. Currently lives in Canton, Mississippi, with his wife is Linda Hegwood, who is a teacher at Madison-Ridgeland Academy. He is a government attorney who works at the State Secretary’s Office in Jackson, Mississippi. His favorite writers are John D. McDonald, James Lee Burke, and Ross McDonald
